3.08 Minnesota Fats - RB Thomas Rawls

In the real world: After three seasons on the bench at Michigan, wondering why he wasn't getting the rock more often, Rawls transferred to Central Michigan in 2014. He rushed for 1,103 yards and 10 touchdowns on 210 carries in his lone season with the Chippewas. He runs with a low center of gravity and a good deal of physicality. The main reason he went undrafted was off-field issues (allegedly stole a 62-year-old woman's purse and used her credit cards, to which he made a plea deal; ruled academically ineligible for the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl). The Seahawks signed him, and even though he's behind Marshawn Lynch, Christine Michael and Robert Turbin in the pecking order, that job situation could improve in a year: Lynch, who has a history of back problems, will turn the dreaded age of 30; and Turbin will become a free agent.
In the TUFF world: Here's the first of the two draft picks Minnesota received from Green Bay in the trade for the #1 pick. Ken Mach is no stranger to making "homer" picks, and taking a former Michigan man in Rawls qualifies. At this stage of the draft, it's a shot in the dark, and it's a good one for the Fats.
